We've had a busy week undertaking fish surveys in four of the Blashford Lakes in Hampshire using a combination of fyke netting, electric fishing and micro-mesh seine netting.

With the Blashford Lakes complex falling within the Avon Valley (Bickton to Christchurch) Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and the Avon Valley Special Protection Area (SPA), fisheries management plans are required to ensure that the lakes remain macrophyte dominated and in Favourable condition.

This work is a repeat of fish surveys undertaken during 2016 and 2021, and provides valuable information on the fish community structure to support continued management of the lakes.
