We were lucky enough to be out working on our doorstep this week, sampling fish in the Bourne Stream, which runs through eastern Poole and through Bournemouth town centre.
As part of an two-year baseline ecology study in the stream, BUG was commissioned by South West Water to undertake fish, invertebrate, water quality and eDNA surveys, along with a habitat walkover survey throughout the entire length of the water body.
Although only a small (and fragmented) stream, a surprising number of fish were captured, comprising five species: stone loach, roach, minnow, eel and chub.
